elcome to my website, "Scott Goes to Africa." Originally from Ontario then Vancouver, I’m now in Zambia and this site tracks my adventures and antics.
New Video Clip
Click here to see Scott and Stephen Lewis in the film "Their Brothers Keepers." This film was produced by Catherine Mullins and is currently in a film competition. Catherine has generously allowed us to use this short clip that explains the need for the concept of an educational village, or as Scott calls it, a "Centre of Excellence."
Who is Scott?
In October 2001, the International Year of the Volunteer, I left the comforts of home to come to Zambia for 2 years as a VSO volunteer. My initial role was to provide support for Community Schools so that we might address more effectively the HIV prevention and care needs of thousands of orphaned and vulnerable children. You'll notice that more than 2 years have gone by and I'm still here ... there's so much more to do. This website archives my adventures. Enjoy your visit. Why Am I in Africa?
- HIV/AIDS has had an overwhelming impact on the lives of Zambians. I'm here to do what I can to help – teaching, encouraging, supporting, advocating. You name it, I do it. From lobbying the president to distributing sports equipment in prisons. I'm also helping people in my community cope with emergency needs. This can be money for anything from school fees to health care or – too frequently – funerals. Click here to find out more about Scott...
Why Am I Raising Money?
- To help me help my Zambian community, I started Scott's AIDS Africa Fund (AAF). With the help of friends and family, we raise money that I can use to help people face the challenges of daily living and meet at least some of their emergency needs. Click here to learn more and find out how you can contribute.
Do You Get My E-Mail Updates?
- Every couple of months I send out a short note describing my latest adventures. Click here to see previous notes and to get your name on the distribution list…
